Author Guidelines

Dear AUTHORS
Please read carefully the following instructions before making your submission. Submissions not in accordance to the instructions will not be considered.


Form and preparation of manuscripts

Language of submission and publication:
Articles must be submitted preferably in English. When submitted in Portuguese or Spanish and accepted, the authors will be invited to translate it into English. The translation into English is responsibility of the authors. Since 2011 JISTEM primarily publishes articles in English. Publication in Portuguese or in Spanish is considered by the editorial team according to the importance of the dissemination of the subjects. In this case, the articles will have the title and abstract translated into English.


1- Submission of Manuscripts

Attention Authors: Submissions will be considered only if ALL of the following information are supplied, for EACH AUTHOR in the AUTHOR'S METADATA:
- Full name of each author, Full Name of the Institution (University, School/Program/ Research Institution/Firm/Government institution, etc ), Province and Country of current residence, and ORCID. (For ORCID registration go to https://orcid.org/ . Observation: when entering the ORCID url please enter http , without the "s".

Please register at "Online Submissions" and submit your paper accordingly to JISTEM USP guidelines. Charges: The journal does not have article submission charges and does not have article processing charges.


a) Manuscript style

-Articles must be submitted in MS-Word format.
First page must present: title of the article, author's full name, affiliation, full address, telephone, email, fax and a brief curriculum vitae.
-Limit of 3 co-authors per article. Limit of two papers of same author per year, regardless of his/her position in the author's list of the paper.

-Second page must present: title of the article, abstract in the original language of the article of about 100 words, title, area and 5 key words (Articles in Portuguese and Spanish, if accepted, require the title, abstract and key-words also in English.
-Articles must be limited to 30 pages in double-space, Arial or times new roman, 12 points; Attention: space 1,5 IS NOT DOUBLE SPACE

-Authors must include figures and graphics in high-resolution 300 dpi (jpg or gif). They must be numbered (Arabic) and with the complete title. References to each table or figure have to be made in the text. Authors must certify that the charts, figures, photos, images, are not copyrighted and if so, authors must make all the required references and citations and/or obtain authorization for its use.

-Authors must submit the questionnaires and research results to the editor for review purposes.

-Acknowledgments to institutions regarding financial support can be included only in the final accepted version.

b) Structure Style

-Articles should clearly present the Abstract, Introduction, Objectives, Justification, Question, literature review, research method, results, conclusion, recommendation and limitation, plus references; The Abstract must clearly show objectives, focus, methodology and results obtained.

-References have to follow the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines. More detailed explanations and examples of these guidelines can be found at the following locations: http://www.apastyle.org/faqs.html or Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed., 2010) American Psychological Association (APA).A list of reference must be presented in alphabetical order.

-A glossary can be included in the end of the article if needed.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
    The author(s) are fully identified such as: Full Name, Institution Full Name, Province and Country of current residence and ORCID. The submission follows the limit of 4(four) authors per article.
  3. The URLs to access references online are provided, including those for open access versions of the reference. The URLs are ready to click (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca).
  4. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review) have been followed.
  7. The author confirms that the article has undergone a careful spelling and similarity review before submitting

The articles are author's responsibility. The publisher allows the author(s) to hold the copyright without restrictions and to retain publishing rights without restrictions.
When submitting an article to JISTEM, authors are responsible for acknowledge and list any conflict of interest and financial support that may have influenced on the research results.
Authors are required to sign an official copyright form.
